What should I bring to my birth?

1. Phones and chargers

Or any other technology you may need like cameras, tablets, a bluetooth speaker or a video camera.

2. Music and hypnobirthing

Prepare playlists ahead of time. Calm, relaxing music can help keep you focused.

 3. Brush and hairbands

Keep your hair out of your face when things really get going and to straighten yourself out after.

4. Toiletries

Lotions, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, soaps or anything that will make you feel good during or after the birth. Most hospitals provide some basics.

5. I.D.'s and insurance info.

Or any other paperwork your hospital may require.

6. Lipgloss or chapstick

Lots of deep breathing tends to dry out your mouth.

7. Any comfort measure or focal point.

Inspring images, a stuffed animal, blanket etc..

8. Hot water bottle

Or a heating pad. Feels great when held on the lower back during contractions.

9. Aromatherapy

Grapefruit oil kicks the nausea. Spend time smelling out your favorites in advance.

Put a few drops on a washcloth and keep it handy.

Do not put it in a base oil on your skin during massage and don't put it in a diffuser since the smell may bother you after a while and it will be difficult to get rid of.

10. Food and snacks

For you and for your partner. After the birth moms are usually hungry and the cafeteria may be closed.

Sandwiches, dried and fresh fruit, granola bars, nuts, energy bars, dates, cut veggies, etc…Lollypops can provide some calories when energy is depleted.

11. Massage Tools

Rubber or wooden rollers or even a tennis ball in a sock works.

12. Small fan

Handy way to get a quick cool down and a steady breeze.

13. Spritz bottle

When you're hot and sweaty, a cool refreshing mist is just the thing. Try rosewater.

14. Medication and vitamins

Bring along anything you take regularly, the hospital will not provide them.

 15. Large towel or bathrobe

Hospitals offer notoriously small towels. If you don't want to bring one along ask for a couple extra hospital towels. That first post baby shower is exceptional.

16. Homecoming clothes

Something fresh and comfortable to wear for the way home.

17. Baby Clothes

That new little one should have something too.       It can be brought later on.

18. Books, prayer books

Reading material, tehillim and a siddur.

19. Nursing bra and pads

In case you forget it you can just pull up or down a regular bra.

20. Slippers or clogs

Most hospitals provide non skid socks.

Wishing you a glorious birthing experience!
